We cover a lot on the first Friday of 2019! Maura Davies of the SPCA of North Texas hopes that everyone will consider adopting a pet this year. Davies says there are so many shelter pets available, everyone in America would have to adopt seven to give them all forever homes! If you do have pets, remember to spay and neuter them as well.
Cassie Bjork has some great tips and suggestions to keep your New Year's resolutions going strong all year long, For example, be specific in your goals and write them down on paper. Get rid of the junk food in your house and start fresh. Above all, plan for a setback or two and don't be too hard on yourself if you mess up. Bjork says it's best to be honest with yourself about what you feel you can accomplish.
The show takes a serious turn talking with Jeff Witzeman, writer, producer and director of the new film Flipping the Script, a documentary about the current state of cancer treatments for children. Flipping the Script explores the alarming turn some doctors are taking to mandate chemotherapy for children even in remission. However, some parents are fighting back. Witzeman also directed the award-winning film, Cancer Can Be Killed found on Amazon Prime.
We end the show with the first of a two-part series with our favorite formulator, Shawn Wells. He reviews the top health trends for 2019, and they aren't always healthy! For instance, Shawn dispels the belief that juicing is healthy and compares it to drinking soda. Keto is still King for 2019 diet trends, but fasting is gaining momentum as the go-to for optimal health, weight and overall wellness.
Tune in on Monday when we review his other top trends!
