Today we have Dr. Nasha Winters with us talking about how to prevent chronic illness and DeWone Bennett talking about video games and violence.
Prevention of Chronic Illness
Dr. Nasha Winters is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor and is the co-author of the book "The Metabolic Approach to Cancer." She is such a delight to talk with about this subject because, not only is she extremely knowledgeable, she actually has had her own battle with cancer. So this episode is not a doctor telling you how to live just because she studied it in the textbooks, Dr. Nasha is living proof that what she is talking about, works. Chronic illness, cancer, disease, auto-immune disorders, etc., are all (most often) products of our lifestyle and how we take care of our bodies. When you are dealing with chronic illness, you may not know where to begin or you might simply feel defeated. Dr. Nasha talks about how the importance of a healthy diet and lifestyle can contribute to long-term health and healing. The term "Whole-Body" healing is what Dr. Nasha goes by, and it looks at our bodies terrain which includes elements like: epigenetics, the microbiome, the immune system, toxin exposures, and blood sugar balance. Then you can effectively determine what kind of diet and lifestyle is going to be optimal for you. Here is an episode we did with Dr. Nasha on cannabis and cancer.
Video Games and Violence
Every parent has the fear of violence exposure leading to a more violent child. Video games that allow kids to basically hold a gun in their hands and take the lives of other players is desensitizing them to the violence. We also see every day on our phones a new shooting, sexual assault, or violent act being done all around the world. Violence is everywhere. So, what is the science behind the video game theory? Is there really negative consequences of too much exposure? DeWone Bennett is a Licensed Professional Counselor, and he talks with us about this and what he thinks the best things that parents can do for their children.
