September 11 is a National Day of Service and Remembrance, and this year Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is asking the same question that his uncle posed in his 1961 inaugural address.
As this campaign is growing, with thousands of volunteers across the country, he is asking us what can we do for our country right now?
This campaign is not just about how we can change the direction of our country in the future, but how we the people can make a difference today, right now, in our local communities.
On September 11, 2023, Mr. Kennedy is calling on all supporters of his campaign to organize or participate in service projects in their local communities. We are asking volunteers to organize these events on September 9, 10, or 11, and Mr. Kennedy will also be out there participating in service.
If you would like to organize an host a service project, take a moment to think about what your community most needs right now. You and your neighbors know best. Then, design a project to address those needs.
You can help fix up a school or the home of someone in need. You can organize an environmental clean-up at a local park, waterway, or treasured place. You can volunteer your time with an organization already doing hard work in your community day in and day out. Apply your talents in the service of repairing the world, and healing the deep divisions in the country.
Once you decide how you want to serve, organize a project in your area, post it on the Kennedy24.com website, and begin to recruit your friends and family to join you in this day of community service. Team Kennedy will encourage all supporters to participate in an event, by using our tool to search for local projects. Volunteers can sign up directly on the website, and you will be able to provide updates on your project, to the volunteers, through the website.
If you would like to participate in a service project that has already been organized in your community, you may search for one here.
Participants may choose to commemorate this experience by ordering a “Day of Service” t-shirt, to wear with your fellow volunteers during your project. Please place your order by Monday, September 4th in order to receive before Saturday, September 9th.
We encourage the organizers of each service project to join with Americans across the country and to initiate a moment of silence in remembrance for the lives lost on September 11 with their project volunteers.
Each of us has a real opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of others, now, through this day of service, and in doing so to demonstrate a commitment to this movement toward the healing of our country.
